A density workout is a weight training program with very low rest and very high repetitions. To complete a density workout all you need is ten minutes out of your day. Your goal for those ten minutes is to do as many possible sets for those ten minutes. For example, If I wanted to work my legs. I would set my timer for ten minutes and see how many sets of squats I can do in that time frame. Getting workouts in when your traveling, or don't have time is something we preach to our South Windsor personal training clients. It can make all the difference in gaining and losing weight.
The intensity of the exercise matters. There is no way I could complete 225lb back loaded squat for more than a couple sets in the time frame. The intensity is just to high. I would however be able to crank out a 105lb back loaded squat for those ten minutes. It is also all relative to your fitness level. Another concept we tell our South Windsor bootcamp members is to progress yourself when your form is good enough to do so.
I would suggest since the duration is so short, to start with your own body weight. Pick exercises that will challenge your entire body (squats, push ups,). Challenge yourself! Its something that we preach all the time to our South Windsor bootcamp clients. See how many you can do with out resting more than 5-10 seconds in between each set. Give it a try everyone! If your strapped for time, its a great way to get a quality workout in.
