Mentally Tough

Hey MELTer's,

So I tried the all fruit fast yesterday, and if anyone else tried it let me know how you did and felt, it was hard!

Nothing but fruit and water for 24 hours didn't seem that bad and it wasn't until about 1 pm. I opened my fridge and caught a smell of all my chicken and not fruit related food and I almost caved.

The point of my story is that you can do anything you set your mind too! As bad as I wanted to say "forget it" and dig right in to some protein I held back. Why? Because I'm stronger than that and so are you!

Anything you want to accomplish you can. At times yes it will be hard and the easy way out is right in front of you but how bad do you want it!

NOTHING in life worth wild is easy! Remember that next time you feel like giving up, don't, keep pushing forward take what you want!

4 Major Points to Remember When Your Goal is to Lose Weight.

Are you struggling to see results around your waistline? Chances are your neglecting one or more of these key points. For those who are trying to lose weight here are some tips that you should adopt and use. We preach this to our South Windsor bootcamp clients all the time, because it works!

1.       It’s a cheat meal, not a cheat day! – To many times when I look at people’s food log book, I see more than one cheat meal. The cheat meal has purpose and that to change up from your diet and reset your metabolism.  Enjoy that cheat meal and be done with it, you have the self control to not have more than one cheat meal.

2.       Small meals, 5-6 times a day for a turbo charged metabolism – You want a faster metabolism, you need to eat more meals. It keeps your body constantly digesting food so therefore your burning calories. Small snack include and apple with peanut 2 tablespoons of peanut butter, or greek yogurt to name a few.

3.       Water intake is just important as anything – Water is essential on so many levels. It has so many functions; hydrates, keeps muscles loose, flushes toxins out, keeps you body temp down especially while your working out. Drink more water for better results.

4.       No matter what get a workout in – Here at M.E.L.T. we provide in home workouts, as well as short 4 minute workouts. Everyone has 4 minutes to workout! Anything is better than nothing, remember that.

Try these tips and I guarantee you will see fast better results.

One Game Changing Tip - The Monday m.e.l.t.

I know it’s a packed week for us so I want to be short n sweet today. Whatever it is that you are after; shedding belly fat, dropping 50 lbs, growing ripped- lean muscle or just getting of yo ass to workout regularly – STOP COMMANDING IT.
The If you build it, they will come philosophy is NOT real life. You have to go out and earn it…not just when you feel like it, but the days where there are more excuses NOT to do something.
When it’s super dark n cold in the am and you don’t want to get out of bed…
When your friends are going out for Happy Hour and rather then get your workout in, you join…
When everyone around you is eating like crap and you feel its easier just to eat like crap with them rather then make a stand for yourself…
My Game Changing Tip:
Stop commanding success in your fitness, personal and business life…DESERVE IT! This typically means doing the hard things…the things you don’t always feel like doing.
Here are some ways to DESERVE IT and trust me things will happen if you take action on em:
-Workout 5 times a week: I don’t want want to hear you don’t have time….its just finding the time. In my program that launches TOMORROW the longest workout is only 20 minutes! And Day 1 and Day 5 are only 12 minutes long! At the very least, wake up 20 minutes earlier and BOOM you have time.
-Make one small nutritional change at a time:  I’m sure you have a good idea in general terms what you should do, start doing it. Tomorrow you’ll get an 8 week blue print of 8 changes that give you the fastest track towards change.
-Get off on moments of internal weakness: Start realizing moments where you are weak, become aware in that moment and get excited about overcoming em…this could be as small as turning down a dessert.
-Go the extra mile in everything you do: Whether at work or working out, do it in the best possible way

If you’re a bootcamp member or not a member at all you can benefit from semi-private training. Designed for groups of two to four people, semi-private training is appropriate for all ages and fitness levels. One of our South Windsor semi private clients Jeff Hill has seen fantastic results.  Jeff is a long time semi private client and here is what he said about his sessions. “I don’t think I would be in the shape I am today without the coaching from Joe and Aaron. My semi private session our tough, fun and always different”

Personalized program – Whatever you want to accomplish we will customize your program towards your needs. If your goal is to lose weight, but also target your core then your program is scientifically written for weight loss and exercises that will dynamically work your core.  If you have chronic injuries we can also work around those injuries to make sure you can stay on track to your goals.

More Undivided Attention and Coaching – Something that I hear a lot from our South Windsor bootcamp members is that they like the attention they get from our coaches. Well multiply that times ten! Motivation is amplified as well since we can give you more attention, resulting in an invigorating workout.

Oops, another fitness mistake

Do You Make These 5 Fitness Mistakes?
Stroll through any gym and you'll notice many mistakes. Mistakes that waste time. Mistakes that put people in danger. And mistakes that are just plain crazy.

Maybe you even make a few of these mistakes yourself.

By avoiding these common blunders, you'll put yourself on the fast track to results.

Check out the following 5 fitness mistakes and the solutions you need to avoid danger and to get fit fast.

Mistake 1: You use the wrong weight
The goal is to challenge your muscles, not to simply go through the motions. If you are able to complete 15 repetitions easily, then the weight is too light. On the flip side, if you aren't able to perform an exercise through its full range of motion, and find yourself cheating on form, then the weight is too heavy.

The correct weights will feel challenging by your last few repetitions, but won't force you to sacrifice form.

Mistake 2: You do the same routine
You may have noticed that most people do the same exercises each time they visit the gym. Maybe you've been doing the same exercise routine as long as you can remember - if it isn't broken then don't fix it, right?

The truth is that exercise routines have expiration dates, and that is the date that they begin to lose their effectiveness. As a rule of thumb never use the same routine for more than 4 weeks.

Mistake 3: You don't warm up
Most people consider warm up time to be wasted time - they'd rather jump right into the heart of the routine. What they don't realize is that a good warm up will allow you to perform at a higher intensity, which means greater results.

The point of a warm up is to increase your muscle temperature. This increases blood flow, muscle contraction and reduces muscle resistance. Your warm up should last 5-10 minutes.

Mistake 4: You use bad form
Gyms are filled with people performing exercises with bad form. The two biggest reasons are that you aren't concentrating on the exercise, or you're trying to lift weight that is too heavy. Lifting with improper form almost always results in injury.

Take the time to achieve proper form, by doing so you'll avoid injury and will reap the full benefit from each exercise.

Mistake 5: You workout alone
People who exercise alone are less challenged, less accountable and typically see fewer results. It makes sense, doesn't it? Why rush to the gym if no one is there waiting for you? Why push yourself if no one is watching? Exercising alone is a recipe for disaster.

The best way to avoid injury and to see results is to work with me, your trusted source on fitness.

I am passionate about seeing my clients achieve results - without wasting time, energy and effort on mistakes.

Don't know where to start when it comes to exercise? That's where I come in.

Call or email me today and we will get you started on the exercise program that is right for you.
Guarantee Your Success
The quickest, easiest way to guarantee that you'll meet your fitness and weight loss goals is to work one-on-one with a qualified fitness professional.

You'll be held accountable with your workouts and you'll be instructed properly and shown techniques and strategies that will expedite your results.

Call or email today to get started on a program that will take the guesswork out of fitness and will set your results on fire.

Is Sodium Bad? An Unique Look from a Personal Trainer and Bootcamp Coach

Hey whats up,

We constantly hear about how bad sodium is but is it? Let's take a look

Sodium's functions*:

-Regulate fluid balance
-Work with kidneys: Filter & reabsorb sodium, adjusts sodium & water excretion. This is especially important for those of you who sweat a lot in bootcamp and personal training sessions, sweating is good but there needs to be reabsorption.
-Maintain blood volume & pressure
-Absorb nutrients from digestive track
*from the Linus Pauling Institute
It turns out Sodium is not all bad and that we need it.

So why do we hear its so bad?

Because like most things, we abuse its use. The average American takes in 3,300 mg a day when the average American SHOULD take in 2,300 mg and for people over 51, African Americans, those with heart, kidney or blood pressure issues , 1,500 mg. HEy now! That's excess baby

The culprits of high sodium;

packaged food
aged anything (cheese, meats)
sandwich meats
most carbs
soups
condiments
snacks...

OH then there is Table Salt (40% sodium,60% chloride)....which if you are still adding table salt to your cooked or cold food, as Mike Ditka would say "STOP IT!"

Okay okay so too little is bad, too much is also bad. How much do I need?

Don't eat anything with more the 140 mg per serving and be more aware of sodium contents.

Like most things that are low in ____ or ___ free, there is typically compensation for whatever its intentionally lacking...so low sodium often means high fat or high sugar....endless things to worry about, I know.

To solve this issue, m.e.l.t. is creating special nutrition cheat sheets for all personal training and bootcamp members, so they don't need to worry about guessing.

If you are checking us out for the first time, make sure to email info@meltfitnesstudio.com so we can hook you up with a FREE pass to our bootcamp experience - YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT!

Make sure to be aware of sodium & ditch the table salt.

Monday m.e.l.t.: What our Soldiers Fight For

"We often take for granted the very things that most deserve our gratitude." -Cynthia Ozick

Whether you are at work or have the day off today, make sure you take a few minutes to show gratitude and be thankful to those who have and are protecting our freedom.

A few months ago when I was on vacation in Germany, I met a few college students from Israel. The conversation started because they looked at me and screamed “Rambo!” ha ha I don’t know if it’s the mullet or muscular frame but I tend to get that a lot when I’m overseas.

As it normally goes they were asking me about muscle building, pop cultural and American sports. In effort to learn more about them, I started to ask them where they were from. They informed me they were Israel, born and bread.

After talking for a few minutes about their life back home, I was taken back. I mean I never watch the news but I am aware of what’s going on in the Middle East I just never really thought from the perspective of in a War zone.

Yet they were high in spirits, didn’t complain about anything and even quoted some old Yiddish saying that was something to the effect of: No matter what we will keep our faith and continue moving forward.

Why I share this story
We have no idea how bad it is in other parts of the world. People often complain about not getting a new iphone, feeling too tired to workout and worse some people even sit back and let our country OR their families take care of them financially.

Talk to any solder past or current, they don’t risk their lives for you (for us) to wine and bitch about small things. They are serving this country to protect our freedoms and security so we can all live to the fullest.

We should always show gratitude, but make sure you at least go out of your way to thank Veterans and show your appreciation today.

Aside from giving thanks and support to our Solders, the best way YOU can show appreciation is by waking up blessed to have the freedoms to make a living for your self, take action forward towards your career and achieve health.

And yes achieve health. Don’t ever take for granted your heath, we are not entitled. You need to train hard and eat right.

#thankyouveterans

Keep It Simple: My Best Nutrition Advice

I get a lot of questions daily on nutrition. What to eat, when to eat it, how to prepare it. There are millions of questions associated with proper nutrition in the weight loss world. In doing research into what the root of the problem is, I have found that there are too many choices out there. One website says this, another website says that. It’s too much clutter and confusion. We tell our South Windsor bootcamp clients to simply weight loss. Don’t make it calories in versus calories out. Focus on eating whole, natural, good quality foods.
·

  • Eat 5 times a day – Properly portioned meals will block against over eating. Eating these meals 2.5-3 hours in between each other will drive up your metabolism. It will also give your more sustained energy.

·

  •  Have the right mixes of food – A good mixture of lean protein, vegetables, and carbohydrates is what your goal should be for each meal. You should fill your food with mostly protein and vegetables with carbohydrates being the least amount on your plate. Let’s think of your food as a pie graph. This is something that has helped me in the past. This has no scientific evidence to support this graph. It is simply something that has helped me.

·

  •  Don’t always rely on calorie count – Calorie counting is not the “be all, end all” of weight loss. Nor, is it the safest. “Everybody is different” We preach this everyday to our South Windsor personal training clients. Who is to say that a certain amount of calories is right for anyone, without knowing anyone’s lifestyle background? Bottom line, if you eat the right things your calories will naturally come down.

These are all tips that I have personally incorporated into my daily routine. I had to go through some trial an error to figure out what exactly would work for me. Try these tips out guys if you are searching for a simpler way to lose weight, Or for just general healthier eating. I have used these tips for as long as I remember and have had fantastic results.
