Good morning everyone,
Speaking of morning, what did you have for breakfast?
For most people, they will have a bowl of some type of cereal. Even though the marketing team did a great job of making the box look nice and healthy, is it?
Most cereal that you may give you child, if you have children, or that you are eating yourself, has just as much if not more sugar than a twinkie in just a one cup serving! That is about 20 grams or 5 teaspoons of sugar!
What can you do if your favorite cereal is packed with sugar? You do have a couple options! You can mix the high sugar cereal with some plain, ex. honey nut cheerios with plain or have plain cheerios and add some fruit to the mix!
A great cheat meal could be you favorite cereal after dinner instead of cakes, ice creams, etc. Just remember to use low-fat, skim or my favorite almond milk.
Here are the top 10 cereals packed with the most sugar!
1) Kellogg's Honey Smacks -- 55.6 percent
2) Post Golden Crisp -- 51.9 percent
3) Kellogg's Froot Loops Marshmallow -- 48.3 percent
4) Quaker Oats Cap'n Crunch's OOPS! All Berries -- 46.9 percent
5) Quaker Oats Cap'n Crunch Original -- 44.4 percent
6) Quaker Oats Oh!s -- 44.4 percent
7) Kellogg's Smorz -- 43.3 percent
8) Kellogg's Apple Jacks -- 42.9 percent
9) Quaker Oats Cap'n Crunch's Crunch Berries -- 42.3 percent
10) Kellogg's Froot Loops Original -- 41.4 percent
Thanks for reading and remember read the labels before you put something into your body! Sugar stores as fat, the more sugar the more fat!

The Benefits of Staying Hydrated
Hey Everyone,
As you may know keeping you body properly hydrated especially now that its starting to get warmer is very important. Being properly hydrated has many benefits like regulating body temperature, helping with digestion, lubricates your joints and staying hydrated.
I have heard time and again people saying that they drinking enough water. Are you really though? The common response is I drink water all day. Well that's great but if you are having two water bottles a day and a large coffee, tea or other caffeinated beverage then you are actually more dehydrated than you think.
Caffeine is a anti-diuretic, which when consumed, increases urine production. For every eight ounces of caffeine you consume, your body looses about 16 ounces of water. Surprised right! Most people get large coffees which is just over doing it! All you really need is 8 ounces of caffeine to get the affects. So instead of getting the 20 ounce large coffee because its going to "do" more, all you need is 8 ounces to get the job done and you will not have to replace as much water. The down fall to caffeine is that it wears off then you get the crash feeling. So now you have to drink another one you get that "pick me up feeling" cause yourself to become less hydrated. So the thing that is suppose to give you energy, is in the long run causing you to feel more tired.
To know how much water you should be drinking daily take your body weight and multiply it by .55 and you will get how much water you should be drinking in ounces. At first this might seem like a lot, but you have all day to do this. Now if you do think your number is a lot add then ounces from the caffeine you drink! Is it worth it? Ounces you are properly hydrated you will notice you will have more energy. Secondly, if you are drinking just water all day, then you are now probably saving yourself at least 200 calories by not drinking other juices or sodas.

Local Business Spotlight
Hey everyone,
This week I had the pleasure on interviewing local physical therapist, Colleen Cronin, MSPT out of South Windsor, CT.
Here's what Colleen had to say:
I would like to say thank you to Colleen for taking time out of her busy day!
Until next week!
This week I had the pleasure on interviewing local physical therapist, Colleen Cronin, MSPT out of South Windsor, CT.
Here's what Colleen had to say:
- Physical Therapy Plus of South Windsor – we are a PT owned private outpatient practice, we treat and educate our clients for a variety of injuries or chronic pain issues. From the young infant to the elderly we have the ability and passion to evaluate your concerns and along with your input make a plan to progress you to your highest functioning level
- We pride ourselves in the fact that we treat the whole person – we educate our clients on their injury and how to heal as well as how it is effecting all of their body and its function. We do our best to refer our clients to other resources as needed to continue their healing process – gym programs, nutrition, massage therapy etc
We love to have fun and there is always laughter in our office. It is very helpful in the healing process and many have said that is one of the reasons that they continue to come back J
- We accept all insurances as payment – we also accept payment plans for those who do not have insurance. We are always willing to do a free assessment for anyone who is experiencing pain or decreased function and needs some education or advice on how to take care of the issue
- As busy business professional, you want one of my tips……hmm this would be one of the areas that I am always working on J
Always schedule – write it down- time for yourself to stay healthy – eating good meals, sleeping, exercise. If you get in the habit of leaving yourself last you will never get everything done that you need to for your success
Put together the best team of coworkers and assistants and then rely on them!!! No one can do it all alone and if you put the team together trust they will get the job done and support you
Until next week!

Toes Shoes???
If you know me, I have extrodinary taste in the shoes I put on my feet (Joe will testify to this).
Back in 2010, I bought my first pair of Vibram 5 fingers. Mainly, because they were weird.
I will admit I had no idea about the benefits to these oddly created shoes until I spent a couple of days in them. I felt that my posture started to get better because I was standing up much straighter and that my legs did not feel as tight or sore as usual. The reason for this that I had found, was because my feet were being feet.
Nobody I know was born with shoes on their feet. Cavemen did not wear shoes. We were made to be barefoot. Our feet are not suppose to be wrapped up and "supported" with thick foam, bumpy soles to "shape us up" and air pockets, they were meant to be free.
Unfortunately, in todays society and sanitary purposes we can not go walking around with no shoes or socks on.
So whats the next best thing? Toe shoes!
These "shoes" let your feet be feet. They let what we were born with work naturaly causing us to have less pain, avoid injury (compared to wearing big bulky shoes) and feel happy.
There are three point of the foot, the ball of the big toe, the ball of the little toe and the ball of your heel. Some shoes, more than less, do not let you use all three point properly or use one or two more than the other.
With 5 fingers, you are more likely to hit these three points because you now have a more natural foot.
Now I'm not saying that these are the only shoes out there that are benefical but, what I am saying is that we were made to be barefoot and if something isn't broke dont fix it. For some people 5 fingers are not for them due to their apperance or maybe they simply dont feel good on their feet. The purpose of this blog is to give you something to think about because, yes, they might look weird and they do, but to look past their apperance and help your feet, low back and spine.
They are by no means warm so once it is a tad bit nicer out you will see mine!
If you are curious, which i know you are now, go try a pair on and give them a chance! Who cares if someone says "Those are weird" simply reply, "My feet are happy!"
Thanks for reading,
Craig
